Overview

Imatong Employment Solutions (IES) is a South Sudanese human resource company, registered and operating in South Sudan since 2015. We are working together with Relief International to identify a qualified South Sudanese professional for the role of WASH Coordinator – Maban.

Position Summary

The WASH Coordinator will lead and coordinate lifesaving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) interventions in Maban. The position ensures effective programme implementation, technical quality, donor compliance, and integration with Health and Nutrition services. The Coordinator will support emergency WASH responses addressing displacement, disease prevention, and critical service gaps.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Implementation

  • Lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of emergency WASH activities.
  • Ensure alignment with approved proposals, WASH standards, and donor requirements.
  • Oversee lifesaving interventions including water supply systems, emergency water trucking, sanitation facilities, hygiene promotion, and cholera prevention.
  • Support rapid assessments and emergency response planning.
  • Contribute to proposal development and program design.

 

Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Provide technical leadership on water systems, sanitation infrastructure, and public health engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with Sphere standards, WHO guidelines, and national WASH policies.
  • Promote safe, gender-sensitive, and inclusive WASH designs.
    Support technical capacity building of WASH staff.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Support the Project Manager in budget oversight by monitoring expenditures, tracking spending trends, and highlighting variances or potential risks.
  • Contribute to Budget Versus Actual (BVA) reviews, providing technical and operational inputs to support forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to facilitate timely procurement and delivery of program materials.

Donor Reporting & Engagement

  • Prepare and submit high-quality donor and WFP narrative and monthly distribution reports within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain regular communication and engagement with WFP project focal points and other donors as required.
  • Support donor monitoring visits, audits, and reviews.

 

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate tracking of WASH indicators and outputs.
  • Prepare high-quality donor reports within agreed timelines.
  • Support monitoring visits, evaluations, and audits.

Coordination & Representation

  • Represent the organization in WASH Cluster and technical coordination forums.
  • Liaise with CHDs, local authorities, UN agencies, and implementing partners.
  • Ensure integration of WASH with Health, Nutrition, and Protection activities.

Compliance & Safeguarding

  • Ensure compliance with humanitarian principles and organizational policies.
  • Promote accountability to affected populations.

NOTE: Flexibility is required to respond to evolving emergency needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced university degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Public Health Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of WASH coordination experience in humanitarian contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency/lifesaving WASH programming.
  • Strong technical expertise in water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion.
  • Experience working in fragile or conflict-affected settings.
  • Excellent written and spoken English required.
