Overview

Imatong Employment Solutions (IES) is a South Sudanese human resource company, registered and operating in South Sudan since 2015. We are working together with Relief International to identify a qualified South Sudanese professional for the role of Health and Nutrition Coordinator – Maban.

Position Summary

The Health & Nutrition Coordinator will provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership for integrated lifesaving Health and Nutrition interventions in Maban. The role ensures high-quality program implementation, adherence to humanitarian and donor standards, sound budget management, and timely reporting. The coordinator will support emergency response activities, including Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), outpatient and inpatient nutrition services, and disease surveillance, while strengthening coordination with local health authorities and partners.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Implementation

  • Lead planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of integrated Health and Nutrition activities.
  • Ensure alignment with approved proposals, clinical protocols, national guidelines, and donor requirements.
  • Oversee emergency lifesaving services including MMUs, PHCC/PHCU support, Stabilization Centers, OTP/TSFP services.
  • Support rapid response to outbreaks, acute malnutrition, and displacement-related needs.
  • Contribute to program design, assessments, and proposal development.

Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Provide technical guidance on primary health care, CMAM, IMCI, MNCH, and referral systems.
  • Ensure adherence to Sphere standards, WHO/UNICEF protocols, and national treatment guidelines.
  • Monitor service quality, clinical governance, and patient safety.
  • Support capacity building, mentoring, and supportive supervision of field teams.

Budget Management

  • Support the Project Manager in budget oversight by monitoring expenditures, tracking burn rates, and flagging variances or risks.
  • Contribute to Budget Versus Actual (BVA) reviews, providing programme inputs to inform forecasting and adjustments.
  • Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to help ensure timely procurement and uninterrupted availability of medicines and nutrition supplies.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Ensure accurate collection and validation of programme data and indicators.
  • Oversee donor reporting (narrative and quantitative) within agreed timelines.
  • Support evaluations, audits, and monitoring visits.

Coordination & Representation

  • Serve as focal point for Health and Nutrition coordination at field level.
  • Liaise with County Health Departments (CHDs), Nutrition Cluster, Health Cluster, UN agencies, and partners.
  • Strengthen collaboration with local authorities and community stakeholders.

Compliance & Safeguarding

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, humanitarian principles, and protection standards.
  • Promote accountability to affected populations and safeguarding practices.

 

NOTE: The role cannot be limited to the duties listed. Flexibility is required to respond to evolving humanitarian needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced university degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Medicine, Nursing, or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in humanitarian Health & Nutrition coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience managing emergency/lifesaving programmes.
  • Strong familiarity with CMAM, MMUs, disease surveillance, and outbreak response.
  • Experience working with government health systems in fragile contexts.
  • Excellent written and spoken English required.
